OBJECTIVES

• To debate, with leaders of the Brazilian and international mineral sectors, the present and forthcoming stages in the development of mining activities, such as: commercial aspects (internal and external markets); social responsibility; interaction with the environment; job generation and labor capacity building; the role of Brazilian mining in the world; contributions of the mineral industry to local, regional and national development; and occupational health and safety;

• To assess how the Brazilian mining industry is integrated into the mining boom that started at the beginning of the millennium and how it relates to the main countries with a mining vocation;

• To bring up for discussion how the various agencies and representatives of the activity can interact in order to contribute to the society at large, towards the consolidation of efforts and commitments to the sustainable future of the planet;

• To discuss the insertion and role of the mining industry in Brazil's plans for development and growth.
