Belo Horizonte
The choice of the country's third largest state capital, Belo Horizonte, to be the host city for the 12 th Brazilian Mining Congress and the EXPOSIBRAM 2007 creates a unique opportunity for discussing the expansion of one of the greatest po les of the global mining industry - Brazil, and particularly, the State of Minas Gerais.
Belo Horizonte is the main distribution centre of a region with important activities in agriculture and mining and which also has a considerable industrial pole. Outstanding among the principle products are steel and steel products, automobiles, and textile products. Gold, manganese and precious stones extracted from nearby cities like Ouro Preto, Mariana, Caeté, Sabará, among others, are all processed in this city. The city has a major air transport and highway infrastructure and is well integrated with all regions of the state.
Apart from this, the capital of Minas is a great cultural centre and has universities, museums, libraries, an internationally renowned arts scene and one of the liveliest night lives in the country.
EXPOMINAS
The Expominas has been entirely renovated and is currently one of the largest and best centres in Brazil for holding large scale trade fairs and events.
